Well, even the most dedicated homebodies make an exception. And honestly? I am so glad we did. There is nothing quite like an early Saturday morning stroll through this city when the crisp autumn air hits just right. We loved checking out the festive storefronts (shoutout to the spooky Dunks, though a little reminder to please support our incredible local indie cafes too—we have so many fabulous small businesses serving up life-changing pastries and local roast right here!). We popped over to the Salem Common to experience the Hexed booth celebrating the upcoming release of this bewitching new Disney film, and it brought all the cozy, cinematic magic to our weekend. Let’s be completely honest for a second. Today is World Mental Health Day, and while our feeds are full of polished highlight reels, pastel graphics, and easy tips on “self-care,” the reality is often a lot messier. Some days, you wonder if you’re enough—or if you’re entirely too much. You weigh whether you’re doing enough for your girls, or somehow overcompensating. Despite biweekly check-ins with my therapist and bimonthly check-ins with my psychiatrist, I’m still navigating the undercurrents of imposter syndrome, PTSD symptoms, and the lingering echoes of past abuse and s3xual assault and harassment. The heaviest part? The fierce, protective terror that my girls might one day face those same shadows, no matter how hard I try to shield them. My inner Leo absolutely cringes at admitting a lack of confidence. There are days I won’t post content because I’m terrified it will fail, or pitches sit unsent because rejection feels too heavy. There’s an entire weight of things I’m carrying behind the scenes that aren’t mine to share, gnawing at me all the same. Juggling life as a creator, writer, theater director, fitness instructor, media professional, wife, mom, daughter, and friend means I just keep showing up. Even when my mental health feels fragile, the people who need me are my north star—I can’t let them down.
